The Moorings

Welcome to the Moorings, a former reedcutters cottage, situated on the riverside, in the beautiful broadland village of Reedham, Norfolk. The perfect tranquil location to chill out and relax.

The cottage, with its Visit England ‘Gold’ award, is in a wonderful setting with spectacular views over the quayside, river Yare and marshes.

The cottage is tastefully furnished and decorated and benefits from an elevated south facing sun terrace with table, chairs and sunshade for you to enjoy alfresco dining and a beer, glass of wine or soft drink whilst watching the many different broads craft navigating the river. You can also observe the variety of wildlife on the marshes beyond (binoculars provided). Marsh harriers, barn owls, bitterns and deer are regular visitors.

With its elevated south facing sun terrace overlooking the quay, with panoramic views of the river Yare and cattle grazing on the marshes beyond, if you like big skies you’ll just love this location

Reedham itself is ideally situated for exploring Norfolk and the broads and boasts three pubs with riverside gardens, a village store, post office, renowned fish and chip shop along with Pettits Farm animal adventure park and the famous Humpty Dumpty brewery, all within easy walking distance. The village even has its own railway station for connections to Norwich (for onward intercity services), Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft and a unique chain ferry, the smallest in the country.

Nearby is the City of Norwich and the bustling seaside towns of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Also close by is the centre of the broads, Wroxham, the lovely market town of Beccles in Suffolk and the beautiful Oulton Broad. Within a 45 minute drive is the North Norfolk coast where you can visit Cromer, Sheringham, and Wells Next the Sea whilst a similar drive south takes you to the lovely seaside towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh.

Accommodation at the Moorings

Awarded visit England 3 star ‘Gold’ award the cottage has a cosy sitting room with window seat affording views over the river and quay, large inglenook fireplace and a woodburner for those chillier evenings. Leading from the sitting room is a fully fitted kitchen with modern appliances and a stable door leading to a charming garden room with dining table and chairs.

Situated on the ground floor is the shower room and toilet.

From the sitting room a steepish staircase (not suitable for the infirm) leads to the main bedroom with a comfortable double bed and magnificent views to the front. The adjoining second bedroom is interconnected to the main bedroom, has twin beds and is often described as a cosy ‘den’ by our younger visitors.

There is private off road parking for one vehicle to the front of the property and a small enclosed garden. Further free parking is available on the quay.
